More than 1.8 million residents, 10.3 million visitors, 10,000 artists, 4,100 arts-related businesses, 550 not-for-profit cultural organizations and 31 municipalities are beneficiaries of the services, technical assistance and grant funds through Broward Cultural Division.

In a 1994 survey of 23 cultural organizations, the total impact on Broward County's economy from the arts was $140 million. Here's a brief look at what cultural organizations provided:

A $140 Million Impact
In 1994, the total operating budget of the 23 participating organizations was $65 million. By applying a conservative multiplier of 2.1476, a significant total impact of $140 million is realized for Broward County.

Capital Expenditures
A $13 Million Impact
In 1994, a total of $6 million was reported in capital expenditures that included improvements, permanent equipment and new facility construction. These expenditures result in an economic impact of $13 million.

Employment and Payroll
A $55.8 Million Impact
Cultural organizations employ 820 full-time employees and 1,350 part-time employees, for a total of 2,170 people in Broward County. From the gross payroll of $26 million, the local impact on cultural payroll is $55.8 million.

A $1.2 Million Value
More than 2,900 volunteers contribute to Broward County's cultural environment. Of the 23 participating organizations, an estimated 2,925 volunteers donated nearly 170,000 hours of time. With these services valued at $7 per hour, the total is $1.2 million in donated services, which equals 82 full-time jobs.
