Hal Axler

Hal Axler joined the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival in 2005. After spending over 20 years in the Home Entertainment Industry, Hal served as Executive Director of The Palm Beach International Film Festival prior to joining FLIFF. Hal spent 15 years with the Handleman Company where he oversaw the music and video purchasing, distribution, marketing, advertising and promotions for over 5000 retailers in the Mid-west and western United States as well as regional distributors.

Hal’s experience also includes on-air and production experience with National Public Radio, Commercial radio, as well as being program director and founder of the Florida State University’s student radio station. A graduate from the Florida State University School of Music, Hal is a published music arranger and continues to perform and conduct music ensembles in the South Florida area. A resident of Davie, Hal is married with two children. Hal sits on the board for the Project Stable Foundation, the Davie Farm Park project, and is on the Town of Davie Youth Education and Safety Board.
