Michael Bassichis joined the Broward County Cultural Council in 1994 and has brought to the Council a unique combination of experience as a business executive and a performing artist, playing in orchestras and ensembles in South Florida, the U.S. and Europe.

Mr. Bassichis is a 32-year resident of Broward County. While devoting his spare time to community affairs, including the Executive Board of Broward County Humane Society, the South Florida Youth Symphony, and as a Chairman of the Broward Urban Trail Coordinating Council, he established five automobile agencies, and served as President of the South Florida Auto-Truck Dealers Association. He served seven years, two as chairperson, on the Broward County Planning Council during the time that the Comprehensive Plan to manage growth, education, and development was initiated and enacted. He is 2nd Vice-President of the Fort Lauderdale Greater Sister Cities International for Culture.  Michael Bassichis has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from Kent State University, as well as a Masters of Performance Arts, in tuba, from the Cleveland Institute of Music and is presently director of the summer program, Summer Arts Sessions International, in Vienna, Bratislava, and Slovakia.
