Anna Toms McDaniel

Anna McDaniel is a graduate of Meredith College, Raleigh, N.C. with majors in piano and public school music and did graduate work in education at George Washington University, Washington, D.C.   Ms. McDaniel taught public school music and directed choirs in Winston-Salem, N.C. and Montgomery County, Maryland before coming to Fort Lauderdale.  She served as Secretary, Vice President, and Concert Chairman of the Community Concert Association; has been a member of the Board of Trustees, Museum of Art, for more than 15 years, having served as Vice President, and for 16 months, Interim Chief Executive Officer during the search for an Executive Director and served for 3 years as President of the Board after which she was elected Chair.  Also, she served as Governmental Affairs Vice President on the Executive Committee of the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra.

In 1989, Ms. McDaniel was appointed to the Broward Cultural Council by Commissioner Poitier and re-appointed in 1998 by Commissioner Jacobs.  Ms. McDaniel was appointed a member of the Florida Arts Council in 1991 by Secretary of State, Jim Smith and served as Chairman in 1993-94.  She was appointed to serve a second term, 1994-1998, by Secretary Smith.
