Help Shape the Cultural Future of Your Community

If you missed the opportunity to attend one of the Community Forum Meetings in October, you have another opportunity to express your vision for the future of the arts and cultural community.

2020 Community Forum Meetings will be held both on Wednesday, November 4, and Thursday November 5, 2009, in order to gather input from the general public.

The end result will be a needs assessment for the 2020 Community Cultural Plan which will be Broward Cultural Division’s blueprint for the next ten years. This, uniquely ‘Broward’ 10-year strategic plan, reflects diverse population trends and will include three component plans focused on the Creative Economy, Cultural Tourism, and Public Art and Design.

The arts consultants, David Plettner and Jerry Allen of The Cultural+Planning Group will be conducting these meetings

The November 4th meeting will take place from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the:
Larkins Community Center
520 NW 3 St., Pompano Beach, FL 33060

On November 5th, two meetings will take place, the first from Noon - 2 p.m at:

Plantation Historical Museum

511 North Fig Tree Lane
Plantation, FL 33317

and the second on November 5, from 6 – 8 p.m.:

Miramar Cultural Center • ArtsPark

2400 Civic Center Place
Miramar, FL 33025

In addition to these forums, there are focus group meetings, one-on-one meetings, online surveys and random sample telephone surveys.

For additional information on the 2020 Community Cultural Plan contact Tom Adams at 954-357-7321.

Both The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport have offered wonderful collaborative opportunities for the not-for-profit cultural organizations and artists to let our visitors know about the wealth of cultural offerings here in Broward County.

At the airport there are 19 window displays, each representing a different organization, in Terminal 3 at the departure level. In October, 30 different organizations and artists exhibited at the Broward County Convention Center at the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Show the same day as the CVB’s Marketing Plan luncheon.
