Artist Dan Corson will highlight some of his national and international art commissions. Corson’s work has been exhibited in Washington, California, Oregon, Maine, Nevada, Hawaii. Internationally his work has been seen in The Czech Republic; England, Australia; and Madagascar. This is his first installation in Florida.

Additionally, Corson will take the audience through the 18-month journey of the Broward Light Project from its moment of conception—the research, the design and the results. Broward Light Project is a two-component light exhibition that includes, Luminous Conjunctions - energy efficient LED lights that illuminate the trees by motion sensors located around the park; and Emerald Laser Lawn - laser light patterns projected on the lawn, also triggered by motion. The Downtown Development Authority and the City of Fort Lauderdale partnered with Broward County to help create this multi-dimensional, permanent project.

Year-Long Celebration for
30th Anniversary
The Kick Off event took place on January 23 at the Broward County Main Library.  It was an evening to remember. It marked an official point in the Year 2006—the moment that the County proclaimed 2006 as The Year of Public Art. And “the first time that an entire year was dedicated to anything in my history with the County,” said Commissioner Diana Wasserman-Rubin as she read the proclamation.
