Moving Walkway Interactive Art Project for Concourse A, Term 1

The Broward Cultural Council Public Art and Design Program is seeking to commission a professional artist or team of artists to create an original interactive artwork that will be integrated into the design of the moving walkway spaces connecting Concourse A to Concourse B in Terminal 1.

The artwork will be located in the new Concourse A, a five gate concourse that will be added to Terminal 1 just east of Concourse B. This new facility will provide a security check point area, passenger waiting rooms and concessions to serve the needs of air travelers.

The site identified for this project is the moving walkway area located in a 700 ft long x 30 ft wide bridge that connects Concourse A to Concourse B in Terminal 1. Artwork opportunities include a large scale experiential artwork that interacts with passengers riding on the moving walkway creating a unique sensory experience through the use of sound, light, video, or any other creative and innovative manner. The artwork is not limited to any specific surface and must be permanent, low maintenance, and in compliance with safety regulations.

The total budget for the project is not to exceed $500,000.

Floor Design Project for Concourse A, Terminal 1

The Broward Cultural Council Public Art and Design Program is seeking to commission a professional artist or team of artists to create an original integrated floor design for Concourse A of Terminal 1.

The artwork will be located in the new Concourse A, a five gate concourse that will be added to Terminal 1 just east of Concourse B. This new facility will provide a security check point area, passenger waiting rooms and concessions to serve the needs of air travelers.

The site identified for the project is a circulation area, located at the center axis of Concourse A, which is approximately 450 ft long x 30 ft wide.

The selected artist or team of artists must create an original design that offers a unique visual experience for travelers that is welcoming, enlivening, and that enhances the aesthetic appearance of these high-traffic spaces. The floor design must be seamless and require low maintenance.

The total budget for the project is not to exceed $500,000.

Alternative Energy Powered Artwork for Concourse A, Terminal 1

The Broward Cultural Council Public Art and Design Program is seeking to commission a professional artist or team of artists to create an original integrated sustainable, solar, or alternative energy powered artwork for Concourse A of Terminal 1.

The artwork will be located in the new Concourse A, a five gate concourse that will be added to Terminal 1 just east of Concourse B. This new facility will provide a security check point area, passenger waiting rooms and concessions to serve the needs of air travelers.

The selected artist or team of artists must create an original design that is innovative, vibrant, inspiring, welcoming, and environmentally conscious. Artwork must be powered by solar energy or any other alternative and sustainable energy source. The artwork will be a signature project because of its visibility from the highway and entry to the terminal loop, and because of its environmentally conscious nature. Artwork designs include, but are not limited to, kinetic and self-illuminating artworks. The artwork must be permanent, low maintenance, and in compliance with safety regulations. Non-solar or non-energy conscious artworks will not be considered.

The total budget for the project is not to exceed $270,000.
