Fort Lauderdale Airport Sculpture

David Lee Brown

Fort Lauderdale Airport Sculpture

Sculpture - Metal

24ft X 35ft X 15ft

1989

Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport

Description:
David Lee Brown constructed this sculpture by connecting industrial steel tubing materials, then twisted the linear configuration to give the form of "flight" to the whole composition. It reminds the viewer of time-lapsed photography of up-lifting motion. This stainless steel sculpture is located on a greenbelt south of the Airport, visible from the Griffin Road.

Artist Statement:
"The pure abstraction sculpture was intuitively generated by working with the structure relationship of light and space. The material was used to reflect, refract, define and control space and light. Therefore, light used as material becomes an entity and an integral aspect of the visual experience.
