Description
Elizabeth A. Busch converted her impression of the Everglades into this mixed medium artwork, combining acrylic painting with hand appliquéd and quilted textile. Highly geometric in composition, the painted sky of "classic Florida sunset" balancing with the lush vegetation and azure water, this quilt is installed on an escalator wall at Terminal 2, Airport.

 
Artist Statement
"Flying across the Everglades when coming to Fort Lauderdale the first time made me realize it must be the subject for "Gateway to the South". An airboat ride through this wondrous land and water wildlife confirmed my initial notion. The lush vegetation and exotic wildlife capped with a classic Florida sunset provided me with all the material I needed for my painted/quilted wall piece."
