Please Lose My Suitcase Full Of Blues

Sculpture - Neon

6ft X 400ft

1994

Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport

Description:
A delightful addition to the Airport public art collection, this four hundred feet long neon artwork, comprised of forty seven (47) components creates a visual impact for the baggage claim at Terminal 3. Artist Cork Marcheschi used two types of neon transformer (static and flow) to give a constant changing motion to the visual impact in this installation.

Artist Statement:
"The idea for the work came directly from its site. First, the space with very long expanse and very low ceiling. Second, people and luggage are in constant motion. I decide to use many long and narrow shapes that could accent the length of the building and to have the light in these shapes moving along with the people and their luggage. The colors of the sculpture are very bright and vivid. The idea was to energize and enliven the space and give the weary travelers a visual treat as they left the airport and went off to experience Fort Lauderdale."
