Blue Heron; Rakeate Spoon Bill; American Woodstork

Marguerite St Clair

Blue Heron; Rakeate Spoon Bill; American Woodstork

Print - Linoleum block Print

na

1980

South Regional Courthouse

Description:
St. Clair sketched an image on a block of white linoleum, then carved the design out. A coating of oil ink was applied to the raised surface of the image and placed on top of a rag paper to receive the final impression of the print, thus the term Linoleum Block Print. Her love of nature is evidenced in the choice of subject matter: 3 prints "Blue Heron", "Rakeate Spoon Bill", "American Woodstork" are installed on the ground floor of the Courthouse, and "Galapagos Turtles" on the second floor.
