Description:
The "Musical Warning Beacons" installed at six baggage-claim carousels in Terminal 1, function as alert signals announcing the arrival of baggage. Each beacon has its own distinct sound; boat horns with sounds of the ocean and beckoning steel drums.  This lively, friendly and functional sound-art is substituted for the generic buzz alarm customary at other airports.

Artist Statement:
"I intend for the "Musical Warning Beacons" to increase regional identity and help create a welcoming baggage-claim at Fort Lauderdale Airport. I intend for this work to celebrate arrival."
