Monique Shaw

Monique Shaw began work with the Cultural Division in 2004 as a part-time Arts Education Assistant and was promoted in June 2006 to Arts Management Specialist for the Public Art and Design Library Bond Program. She graduated in 2002 from Miami International University, with a Master of Fine Arts in computer animation and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Florida A & M University in Tallahassee. She is presently a professor of art appreciation at Broward Community College since 2002, and previously worked as a professor for two years at Miami Dade Community College in computer art.

As an artist, Shaw painted a mural at John the Baptise RC Church in Trinidad, W.I., and has exhibited paintings in the Harambee Arts Festival in Tallahassee, and The Starving Artists Exhibition in Fort Lauderdale.

Her community work has included camp counseling deaf and handicapped children at Schott Memorial in Davie, Fl. and working with homeless children at the YMCA in Trinidad, WI.
