Mission Statement
The mission of Broward County Transit is to provide clean, safe, reliable and efficient transit service to the community by being responsive to changing needs and focusing on customer service as our highest priority.
About Broward County Transit
Broward County Transit (BCT) is your number one public transportation option for getting around Broward County. We can take you practically anywhere you want to go – work, schools, shopping, libraries, parks, cultural and civic activities, and other places of interest. We also provide links to Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties transit systems. Our buses provide connections to our community’s multimodal transportation network, as well as system wide connections at three transfer terminals: Broward Central Terminal (downtown Fort Lauderdale); West Regional Terminal (Plantation) and Lauderhill Mall Transfer Facility (Lauderhill).
We provide free Wi-Fi on the 441 Breeze and U.S. 1 Breeze routes, and at the Broward Central Terminal. “Real time” technology systems are available at several bus stops along SR 7/441 that displays and announces the estimated arrival times of the buses. Future technology upgrades include a web offering available from the BCT web site to allow passengers to access our transit system and to view “real time” bus arrival information for specific bus stops.
In 2007, we added sixty-foot long articulated buses to our fleet; hybrid (diesel-electric) buses in 2008, and plan to add 15 articulated buses (10 hybrids and five diesels) starting in December 2009 and January 2010.
Service Area
Of Broward’s more than 1,200 square miles, BCT buses provide service to 410 square miles. Our service area becomes even greater with Route 18, BCT’s first bus route to service the tri-county area of Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach.
