Broward County Transit is currently seeking qualified applicants for bus operator positions. Required and preferred skills along with employment benefits are:


  • ​$14.41 - $23.54 hourly (annual increases to maximum)
  • $10.63 hourly Training Rate for first 8 weeks
  • $29,972.00 - $48,963.00 annually (excluding overtime)​

  • Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity
  • Ability to pass drug and alcohol test and a criminal background check
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to perform functions of position
  • Knowledge of Florida and local motor vehicle regulations
  • Must enjoy working with people and have exceptional customer service experience
  • Must have been a licensed driver for at least three (3) years
  • Must meet New Hire Driver’s License Criteria which includes no more than one moving violation, no at-fault accidents, and no suspensions within the past three years, plus other requirements
  • Must successfully complete job related tests and relevant training
  • Possess a valid State of Florida Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class “B” with Airbrake and “P” (Passenger Transport) endorsement or a CDL Learner’s Permit at time of hire
  • Previous transit operator experience preferred
  • Willingness to work varied work schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
