COMMUNITY GRANTS
Grant applications are due by June 6, 2008. The Community Grants program provides funding for landscape projects improving the beauty and environmental health of public spaces. Projects must be on public property or common areas visible to the general public. Gated communities may apply for funding for projects outside their gates. Grant dollars can only fund plants, sod and mulch. At least 60 % of the plants used must be Florida native species. Neither annuals nor exotic invasive plants may be used. Additionally, grant funds can not be used to pay for plant material meeting minimum landscape codes or required to comply with the replacement provisions of tree removal permits. Only not-for-profit organizations may apply including: homeowner associations, civic associations, condominium associations, religious organizations, and other not-for-profits. Cities, public schools, Individuals and “for-profit” businesses are NOT eligible under the program. Community Grant applicants are required to match grant funds on a 1 to 1 basis in cash, donations or “in-kind services” (e.g. volunteer time) directly benefiting the project.
