The Land Presrvation Advisory Board (LPAB) meets on the third Thursday of each month. The meetings begin at 9:30 am and are held at the Fern Forest Nature Center.

John Carrig, a Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Financial Analyist, has been a part of the financial services industry for over thirty years, both in New York and in London. He has served in various capacities including equity and fixed income trading, investment banking and global investor services. John also founded Gold Coast Financial Planning in 2003, an independent financial planning and investment advisory firm in Boca Raton/Deerfield Beach. Prior to moving to Florida and establishing Gold Coast Financial Planning, he served corporate and public pension clients as a portfolio valuation analyst at JP Morgan Chase. John has been quoted several times over the years, in various publications, including, Kiplinger's Personal Finance, Money Magazine and AARP Bulletin. John has been a contributor to the book "Just Give Me The Answer$: Expert Advisors Address Your Most Pressing Financial Questions", published by Dearboarn Press. John has been the featured financial consultant in the Sun-Sentinel "Money Makeover" column. John and his wife, Joanne, are very active in the original "Save Our Beaches, Inc". a Deerfield Beach, not-for-profit organization, engaging in the education and promotion of orderly environmental management, conservation and preservation of the community's natural resources.

Alan J. Levy, is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Great American Farms, Inc. Mr Levy earned a B.B.A. in business administration from the University of Georgia. He has been involved in cattle and farming operations throughout Florida, Michigan and North Carolina and also developed agricultural ventures in Central and South America and Mexico. Mr. Levy has participated in numerous community and professional activities. He spearheaded the "Save The Pompano State Farmers Market" Committee and currently serves as a member of the following:

Keith M. Poliakoff is the Deputy Town Attorney to the Town of Southwest Ranches and practices in the Firm's Government Law Group. He is a graduate of the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law, earning a J.D. cum laude and Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications receiving a B.S. magna cum laude. Mr. Poliakoff has worked on virtually all matters affecting a municipal government which includes creating comprehensive plans, developing land use and zoning categories and drafting ordinances and resolution. He also has defended the town in numerous litigation matters. Prior to his legal career, Mr. Poliakoff worked as a freelance producer for NBC News and as an assistant producer at CNN in New York.
Darlene Harris is the Vice President and Senior biologist for Earth Advisors, Inc. She has been in the field of natural resource management, parks and recreation, environmental education, nature center and museum management and program curriculum development for over 19 years. Ms. Harris earned a B.A. in biology from Mansfield State College and B.A., magna cum laude, in geography from Mansfield University.

Dr. Lisa Baumbach-Reardon is an Associate Research Professor at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics. She is also the Co-Director of the University of Miami's Miami Heart Institute DNA Diagnostic Laboratory and is a geneticist for the Muscular Dystrophy Association Clinics, Kessenich ALS Center, and Huntinton's Disease Clinic. Dr. Baumbach-Reardon earned a Ph.D. in biochemstry and molecular biology and a B.A. in anthropology from the University of Florida. She worked on post-doctoral research at the university of Colorado Health Science Center and the Baylor College of Medicine.

Roderick Tirrell is currently a landlord and residential property manager. He has worked as a manager and partner of the South Florida Fitness Corporation and has consulted for SARA Systems and Tirrell Health Products. Mr. Tirrell attended graduate school at Northeastern University studying Recreation Management. He earned a B.S. in physical education from Boston State Teacher's College (UMASS). Mr. Tirrell is the chair of the Everglades coalition of Broward County. He was the past Conservation Chair for the Broward County Sierra where he lobbied conservation issues.

Dr. George Fitzpatrick Chairman of the Land Preservation Advisory Board, is a professor of environmental horticulture at the Universityof Florida. He earned a Ph.D. in Entomology from Rutgers University and a M.A. and B.A. in Biology from the College of New Jersey. Dr. Fitzpatrick has served as the coordinator of academic programs at UF's research and education centers in both Fort Lauderdale and Homestead. In addition, he has served as a guest instructor at the University of the Virgin Islands and the Universidad de Costa Rica. He has served as Editor for the Proceedings of the Florida State Horticultural Society and as Consulting Editor for HortTechnology. He is a member of many professional organizations including the International Society of Arboriculture, International Society for Horticultural Science, American Society for Horticultural Science, and the Florida State Horticultural Society.

Ken Richardson is currently the Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Cooper City. Mr. Richardson has worked with Cooper city since 1981. Mr. Richardson attended graduate school at Central Michigan University where he major in Parks and Recreation Administration. He earned his Bachelor in Science at Central Michigan University as well. Mr. Richardson has educational experience in Education Administration and Business Education. Mr. Richardson enjoys landscaping, the outdoors and all Spectator Sports.

Mr. Emilio Esteban is the Environmental and Engineer Director for the City of Margate. Born in the Philippines, he earned his Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from Mapua Institute of Technology in Manila, Philippines. He migrated to the United States, where he has been a resident of Florida since 1970, and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida since 1982. Mr. Esteban has been employed by the City of Margate since 1976. He worked his way up through the ranks in the Engineering Department from Engineering Technician to Project Engineer to City Engineer and presently serving as the Director of Environmental and Engineering Services since July 1988. He manages a department with 84 personnel and an annual operating and capital budget of $17.9 M, in-charge of Engineering, Planning & Zoning and the administration of the City's Water & Wastewater Treatment Facilities.

Appointed member to the Cocomar Water Control District from 1991 to 2001

Mr. Vincent R. Grande Mr. Grande is a Certified Public Account (C.P.A.) and is currently a Legislative Analyst to the Metropolitan Dade County Board of County Commissioners.
He earned a M.S. in accounting from Nova Southeastern University and a B.S. in accounting from Syracuse University. Mr. Grande advises chairpersons and commissioners on legislation, resolutions, ordinances, and reports. He serves as an analyst for the committees that oversee the Port of Miami, and Dade County Aviation, Parks and Recreation, and Tourism and Culture. Mr. Grande has also monitored and controlled accounts for the Dade County Aviation Department.

Cyndi Hutchinson is the Fort Lauderdale City Commissioner representing District 4. She was elected on March 14th, 2000.
Commissioner Hutchinson is a native of Fort LauderdaleShe has been active in civic affairs serving as a board member of Edgewood Civic Association, a coordinator for her neighborhood during the Fort Lauderdale Neighborhood Master Plan Program, and as a neighborhood liaison to the Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport and to Broward County. She is a graduate of the Fort Lauderdale Citizen's Police Academy, the Fire Rescue Community Emergency Response Team, and the Neighborhood Leadership College.
Commissioner Hutchinson has been an active participant in several local initiatives related to homelessness, airport relations, and has been instrumental in coordinating numerous public education and fundraising events. She is a member of Neighborhood USA and is an advocate for empowering the interests of "regular people" and is committed to the "business of neighborhoods and good neighboring.
