Land Stewardship Program

Through the $400 million Safe Parks & Land Preservation Bond Program, Broward County acquired natural lands and open space sites. The Land Stewardship Program originated to properly manage the acquired sites in perpetuity for future generations and to expedite the development of open space sites to meet the passive recreational needs of county residents. The Land Stewardship Program will provide ongoing monitoring and oversight of bond acquired and other natural lands, throughout the county and its municipalities through the "Keep it Green" Compliance Monitoring Program. The Land Stewardship Program will also provide funds for the ecological restoration of natural lands by creating the "Partners in Preservation" Grant Program and will provide matching funds for the development of bond program sites through the "Parks for People " Grant Program, which advocates water conservation and "green components" initiatives.
The cycles for both grant programs will run once a year; final timelines for application submission, revision and award processes will be announced and posted in this website.
The Land Stewardship Program provided a workshop for the "Parks for People" and "Partners in Preservation" grant programs on April 24, 2008 at Volunteer Park Community Center, in Plantation. For current updates and information on this years application cycle please call 954-519-1297.
