Open Space Program
The Open Space Grant program is part of the Land Preservation Bond Program approved by Referendum in November 2000. The voters approved a $400 million Bond issue to preserve environmentally sensitive lands, create new parks and improve the existing Broward County park system. The grant applications are reviewed by the Land Preservation Advisory Board (LPAB), a citizens' committee, which recommends to the County Commission projects to be funded under this Bond category.
On June 5, 2003 the LPAB reviewed over 45 applications from 13 municipalities and recommended 25 projects for funding, totaling over $25 million, to the County Commission. On July 1, 2003 the County Commission approved the recommendations of the LPAB. Below is a complete list of approved projects.
