Is Your Pet Vaccinated?

Animal Care and Adoption will host a Rabies Clinic on Saturday, September 12th from 9AM to 2PM at the Miramar Branch Library, 2050 Civic Center Place, Miramar. Pet owners will be able to have their dog or cat vaccinated against rabies and receive a Broward County Rabies Registration tag. More... 

Destination Friday says "Aloha"

Back from a summer hiatus, Destination Friday is gearing up for three months at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center, 2650 Sistrunk Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale. Author Latisha Levines Talks About Her Life of Abuse

The African-American Research Library and Cultural Center in Fort Lauderdale will hold a very important and moving book talk on Saturday, September 26th, at 2PM. Latisha Levines is Coming Out of These Closed Walls to talk about her existence from youth into adulthood and her world of physical, emotional, and sexual exploitation as a prisoner in her own home. African Wardrobe Festival at AARLCC

African Wardrobe Festival, Inc. in collaboration with the Friends of the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center (AARLCC) are sponsoring the first annual African Wardrobe Festival on Saturday, August 29, 2015 from 12 noon to 8PM. The festival’s purpose is to promote African attire, and its mission is to unite African-Americans with their African Diaspora roots. This event will feature a red carpet welcome, African art expo, documentary screenings, panel discussions and networking mixers. Tickets are $30. Take a Coastal Exploration Hike

Explore the unique coastal habitat of Deerfield Island Park under the guidance of a Parks naturalist when the park offers a Coastal Exploration Hike, for ages 8 and up, from 9 to 11AM on designated Saturdays. The tour includes boat shuttle transportation to and from the island park. Deerfield Island Park is located at 1720 Deerfield Island Park in Deerfield Beach. Call 954-357-5100 for details. Does Your Dog Rule the Roost?

If the answer to this simple question is yes, now is the time to enroll your four-legged problem child in Dog Smarts 101 class. The class, hosted by Broward County Animal Care and Adoption and taught by a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, provides pet parents with important information to make dog ownership easier for both the dog and the family. Dog Smarts 101 is open to all residents and is free of charge. Since the class is not a dog training session, no pets are permitted. The following classes are scheduled for 2015 from 6-7PM:
  • September 8th - West Regional Library, 8601 W. Broward Blvd., Plantation
  • October 13th - West Regional Library, 8601 W. Broward Blvd., Plantation
