Section 6.01 of the Broward County Charter provides for the appointment of a Charter Review Commission in June 2000 and every six years thereafter. The Commission is authorized and empowered to conduct a comprehensive study of any or all phases of county government.

The Commission's term is from June 2006 to November 2008. All proposed amendments must be presented by the County Commission to the electorate at the next general election in November 2008.
