Mission: To regulate, enforce and improve the quality of child care in Broward County

The Child Care Licensing and Enforcement (CCLE) Section of the Children’s Services Administration Division of the Human Services Department is responsible for the implementation of the state-mandated licensing of all child care facilities and family child care homes in Broward County. CCLE monitors child care providers for compliance with health and safety standards. It also registers religious and non-public schools offering child care services.

The Quality Assurance unit provides information on regulations and technical assistance to prospective providers, reviews floor plans, conducts pre-licensing and licensing inspections and prepares corrective action plans.

The Quality Rating System Program is a partner in the School Readiness Service System, funded by the Early Learning Coalition of Broward County, through the Agency for Workforce Innovation's Office of Early Learning. This program conducts the 5-Star Quality Rating System Program for providers of early care and education services in Broward County. ECE providers participate in the program on a voluntary basis.

The Monitoring unit monitors each provider for compliance, follows up on failed inspections, and provides technical assistance.

The Enforcement unit investigates complaints against suspected unlicensed arrangements, and levies fines when indicated. It is the intention of the unit to have all arrangements become licensed or cease operations.
