American Planning Association Planners Energy and Climate Change Database: This online database provides examples of communities that have taken steps to integrate energy and climate change issues into planning, states that have addressed climate change issues in plans or policies, and other relevant documents to help planners understand and address energy and climate change.
Policy Guide on Planning and Climate Change (PDF): April 2008. The American Planning Association policy guide provides planners, engaged citizens and elected officials with strategies to slow the pace of climate change and adapt to its impacts.
NOAA Local Strategies for Addressing Climate Change (PDF): February 2009. This is a compilation of articles recently published in Coastal Services magazine, a trade journal for the nation's coastal resource managers this magazine.
The Playbook: The Playbook is a web-based resource which provides information on developing strategies, best practices related to buildings, neighborhoods and infrastructure. It includes tips and tools that cities and counties can use to take immediate action on climate change.
Pew Center on Global Climate Change: Adaptation Planning (DOC): January 2009. This is a 33 page report on what US States and localities are doing to adapt to climate change.
Nation Under Siege - Sea Level Rise at Our Doorstep. A Coastal Impact Study (PDF): September 2007. Authors E. Mazria and K. Kershner from the 2030 Research Center study the impact of sea level rise on the US coastline and then provide a two-pronged solution to avert dangerous climate change.
Resilient Coasts: A Blueprint for Action: 2009. This 9 page report was developed by the Heinz Center and Ceres (a national network of investors, environmental organizations and other public interest groups working with companies and investors to address sustainability challenges such as global climate change.) The report identifies Resilient Coasts Principles.
From Risk to Opportunity 2008 - Insurer Responses to Climate Change. 2009 This 100 page Ceres report explores the insurance industry's significant progress in developing wide-ranging products and services to help global consumers and businesses reduce their exposure to climate change - and to reduce the emissions causing global warming. In recognition of the serious threats climate change poses to the industry and society at large, the report also identifies areas where the industry could demonstrate greater leadership in product innovation, investment, risk modeling and public policy.
The Impacts of Sea-level Rise on the California Coast: March 2009. This paper from the California Climate Change Center prepared by the Pacific Institute concludes that sea-level rise will inevitably change the character of the California coast, and that adaptation strategies must be evaluated, tested, and implemented if the risks identified in the report are to be reduced or avoided.

Florida and Climate Change -The Cost of Inaction (PDF): November 2007. E.A. Stanton and F. Ackerman authored this 104 page report which was a collaboration between Tufts University Global Development and Environment Institute and Stockholm Environment Institute-US Center. It provides an overview of impacts to the economy of industry and infrastructure, hurricane impacts, and ecosystem impacts.
