The IPCC is a scientific intergovernmental body set up by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to provide the decision-makers with an objective source of information about climate change. Topics covered include mitigation of climate change across all sectors of society.
Carbon Mitigation Initiative: The Carbon Mitigation Initiative (CMI) is a joint project of Princeton University, BP and the Ford Motor Company to find solutions to the greenhouse and global warming problem. Their researchers are developing strategies to reduce global carbon dioxide emissions.

Those strategies described are the ones that seemed to be the most widely applicable while yielding significant carbon savings focused on energy, transportation and waste as major sources of greenhouse gases.
