Applying for an Auto Repair Shop License

You Must Provide the Following:

• COMPLETED APPLICATION(S) -- pdf

• COUNTY OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE
• CITY OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE (if applicable)
• HAZARDOUS MATERIAL LICENSE (if applicable)
• INSURANCE CERTIFICATES
• HAZARDOUS WASTE MANIFEST
• CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN APPLICATION
• CORPORATION OR FICTITIOUS NAME DOCUMENTS

Note:   License expires on Sept. 30th of every year.

New Applicant

You must first complete steps 1 & 2.  Then apply for, gather, and provide steps 4 - 9.

Explanations

1. Submit a completed application

2.  License fee is $275. 
Payable by cash (in person only), check, credit card (except American Express), or money order.  Checks made payable to: Broward County Commissioners. 

3. Provide a current Broward County Occupational License.

4. Provide a current City Occupational License.

5. Provide a current Broward County Hazardous Material License or exemption letter.

6. Provide a copy of the Garage Liability and Garage Keeper's Legal liability certificates of insurance evidencing adequate insurance coverage in full force and effect. 

Note: The certificate must list the Broward County Consumer Affairs Division as a certificate holder and must provide at least 30 days advance notice of cancellation.

7. Provide a copy of your most recent hazardous waste manifest (within 6 months).

8. Submit a minimum of one certified technician application with the ASE or AATI certificate copies.  In addition, all technicians, trainees and lube and tire employees must be registered.

9. Provide a copy of the articles of incorporation.  If operating under a fictitious name, then the business must provide a copy of an active, current fictitious name registration issued by the Florida Division of Corporations.

Once the Consumer Affairs Division has processed your registration fees, and verified that all the above information has been submitted and is complete, we will mail your new license.
