Applying or Renewing a Chauffeur's Registration License

In order to APPLY or RENEW a Chauffeur's Registration license you MUST:

1. APPLY IN PERSON (Mon-Fri   8:30-4:00)
2. COMPLETE AN APPLICATION
3. PAY $40.00 FEE. (non-refundable)
4. BRING WITH YOU, YOUR FLORIDA DRIVERS LICENSE 
5. BRING WITH YOU, YOUR VALID (whichever applies)

• US PASSPORT  or BIRTH/CITIZENSHIP/NATURALIZATION CERTIFICATE
• RESIDENT CARD
• EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION CARD / DOCUMENTATION
• NATIVE AMERICAN TRIBAL DOCUMENT 

NOTE: NEW APPLICANTS MAY NOT DRIVE A VEHICLE-FOR HIRE UNTIL THE LICENSE IS ISSUED.  LICENSE EXPIRES EVERY TWO YEARS.

In order to RECEIVE a Chauffeur's Registration license you MUST:

• PASS CHAUFFEUR'S REGISTRATION TEST
• PASS DRIVING & CRIMINAL BACKGROUD INVESTIGATION

NOTE: IF ALL ABOVE IS PROVIDED AND PASSED THEN LICENSE IS MAILED WITHIN FOUR WEEKS.

Explanations:

1. Applicant must apply in person at the Broward County Consumer Affairs Division.

2. Submit a completed "Application for Broward County Chauffeur's Registration" (form #201).

3. Chauffeur's Registration fee is $40 (non-refundable). Payable by cash, credit card (except American Express), or money order. 

Money order made payable to:  Broward County Commissioners.

4. Bring with you, your Florida Driver's License.

• If you have lived in Florida for 5 years or less, you are required to provide your out-of-state Driver License number; we will not process you application until this information is obtained.

5. Bring with you, your valid US Passport, Birth/Citizenship / Naturalization Certificate, Resident Card, Employment Authorization Card / documentation, Native American Tribal document. (whichever applies)

6. You must take and pass the written Broward County Chauffeur's Registration Test.  Test is completed at the time of application and covers traffic regulations, county ordinance, and county geography.  If failed, you have two more chances to retake the test within 3 months at no additional charge.

7. Applicant's driving & criminal background will be investigated. History must be satisfactory before license is issued.
