Choosing a Local Household Mover

-
Verify that the mover has a current count and state moving registration by calling this agency at 954-357-5350 or use the moving company search feature on this website.
-
The moving ordinance seeks to protect consumers by requiring that movers to place their registration number on all advertisements, estimates, contracts, and the moving trucks. The following is a sample registration number: MV123.
-
Attempt to get references and find out how long the company has been in business.
-
Find out if the mover provides extra services such as storage, packing and unpacking.
-
Verify that the mover meets their delivery schedules, pick up and delivery.
-
Find out if the mover has a good record for settling claims and disputes. Does the moving company offer mediation or arbitration for claim disputes.
-
Verify that the mover has worker's compensation coverage and general and legal liability insurance.
-
Attempt to get at least three (3) detailed estimates. It is a good idea to have the mover actually sees what is to be moved so that an accurate estimate can be provided and to mitigate possible disputes over the cost of the move.
By Florida law and Broward County Ordinance, you are entitled to a written estimate
Call your local consumer protection agency regarding complaint information.
