TYPES OF FOR-HIRE VEHICLE PERMITS

1. Taxicab & Luxury Sedan: The number of permits for taxicabs and executive limousines is restricted. In order to acquire a Taxicab or an Executive Limousine Permit, a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity is required. Each certificate entitles the certificate holder to one (1) permit. The cost of the permit is $200.00. In addition, the certificate/permit holder must produce proof of public automobile insurance for each individual taxicab or luxury sedan. (Certificate of Insurance) as required by Chapter 22 ½ of the Broward County Code.

2. Luxury Limousine and Transport Vans (Motor Vehicles with a Seating Capacity of 9-19 Exclusive of the Driver.): The number of permits in the category is unrestricted. To obtain a permit, applicants are required to obtain a permit for each vehicle they intend to operate. The cost of the permit is $300.00. The applicant must have a place of business located in Broward County, have a Broward County Occupational License for the business, produce proof that the applicant maintains a Broward County telephone number, submit a copy of a title or lease agreement for each vehicle operating on the applicant's behalf in Broward County, and produce proof of public automobile insurance for each individual vehicle (Certificate of Insurance) as required by Chapter 22 ½ of the Broward County Code.

3. Airport Operating Permits (Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport): No limousine or transport van with a seating capacity of up to nineteen (19) passengers, exclusive of the driver, may operate at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport without first obtaining an Airport Operating Permit. The cost of the permit is $50.00 The requirements to obtain an Airport Operating Permit are: the vehicle is operated pursuant to a contract, lease, or permit issued by Broward County and/or the Broward County Aviation Department for operations at the Airport; or the vehicle provides prearranged pickups only and complies with all of the following: the limousine or passenger motor carrier has paid for an airport decal for each vehicle operating at the Airport, the decal is affixed to the windshield of the vehicle in a place as prescribed by the Consumer Affairs Division, the driver of a vehicle operating at the Airport must have in their possession and available for inspection, a current and valid County Chauffeur's Registration, a numbered permit identification card issued by the Consumer Affairs Division which corresponds to the number of the airport decal issued to the vehicle, the vehicle must be parked in an Airport public parking facility, and the permit holder must maintain on file with the Consumer Affairs Division proof of insurance complying with Chapter 22 ½ of the Broward County Code.
