Broward County has grown to become a multifaceted industrial center and regional leader in business. A primary goal of the Office of Economic and Small Business Development is to implement and provide a full range of strategies designed to enhance Broward County's economy that result in job creation, business expansion, and the continual improvement of the quality of life of our residents.

OESBD Hosts Economic Toolbox Meeting for Central County Businesses and Residents

OESBD presented a meeting with County staff to share details about the "Economic Toolbox", a set of grant programs the County will offer to business/property owners along the Central County Unincorporated Area commercial corridors. The event was held on Tuesday, July 28th at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center. More...

Economic Engines

The Office of Economic and Small Business Development, Port Everglades, Aviation and the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) are the lead agencies for developing the international trade program, subject to the approval of the Board of County Commissioners. While each agency has its own specific responsibilities and authority, areas of collaboration include:

  • Developing an overall County trade strategy for approval by the Board of County Commissioners
  • Designating and developing the infrastructure for potential sites for foreign consulates
  • Developing and strengthening the infrastructure for an inventory of Broward County services (i.e. Customs)
  • Developing working relationships with the private and other public sector entities within local, state and federal government
  • Developing and advocating County trade initiatives for approval by the Board of County Commissioners
  • Evaluating and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the County's trade service delivery system
