University Partnerships

The Office of Economic and Small Business Development partners with three local institutions of higher learning to aid in providing research assistance and internship programs between not only the County and the university itself but also the university and local businesses in need of experienced students in their desired field or industry. The partners are:

  • Florida Atlantic University – Particularly the Dania Beach campus participated in research for the Marine Industry and other industry related business. FAU’s Office of Technology Transfer has also advised the Office of Economic and Small Business Development on assisting companies that are launching new products.
  • Nova Southeastern University - A group of five interns assisted with the development of the Collier City Aquaculture and Hydroponics Complex Business Plan. NSU’s Office of Technology Transfer has also met with one of Broward County’s local companies to provide assistance in product development and patent research.
  • Broward College - The Institute for Economic Development has worked (under contract for a fee) with several Broward County companies.

Note: Please contact each institution for more information based on the service and department needed.
