Broward County's varied environmental resources range from the coral reefs in the Atlantic Ocean to miles of beautiful beaches, to the sawgrass wetlands of the Everglades. The Environmental Protection Department of Broward County, Florida is responsible for implementing the natural resource management agenda for Broward County through environmental planning, management, and regulation; leading essential County programs to meet both immediate and long term environmental protection and restoration goals.

The Department regulates over 8,500 facilities and related activities and manages nine delegated State programs through six organizational units:

  • Administration (including Enforcement Administration)
  • Air Quality
  • Biological Resources
  • Environmental Monitoring
  • Pollution Prevention & Remediation
  • Water Resources
