Starting a business is tough. Make no mistake. We tend to look at the results of a successful venture and wish to be in that situation. Unfortunately, we have a tendency to skip all of the risk taking, hard times, nail biting, luck and plain old hard work that went into making that business successful. We look at the end result and decide "that's where I want to be!" There is nothing wrong with aiming high and expecting success. In fact, if you can't see yourself as a successful entrepreneur then maybe starting a business isn't for you. The potential for problems exist when you have either ignored the fact that there is a lot of hard work and sacrifice involved in starting a business, or if you simply just don't know that there are.
Entrepreneurship is difficult enough without having to fight your own unreasonable expectations and lack of knowledge. You need to know what to expect, and you should know how to manage problems and opportunities when they happen. You need a good business foundation to help you start your business, and you need to know how to grow your successful business. Don't worry, we're here to help!
The Entrepreneurial Education Initiative of the Agriculture and Extension Education Division is a partnership between Broward County Government and the University of Florida's Cooperative Extension Service. We primarily offer entrepreneurial education to small businesses, businesses that provide a large percentage of jobs here in Broward County. The success and growth of small businesses translate into more jobs for County residents.
The Entrepreneurial Education Initiative is working to introduce FastTrac entrepreneurial education programs to small business owners in Broward County. Developed in 1986 and with over 20,000 graduates, FastTrac is a proven educational program that will provide the skills entrepreneurs need to survive, thrive and prosper. Initially, the Entrepreneurship Education Initiative will offer two classes in the FastTrac series, FastTrac New Venture and FastTrac Planning.
