Broward Confirmed a "Certified Local Government"
On July 7, 2016, Broward County became Florida's 74th Certified Local Government (CLG). The highly coveted and respected CLG certification allows for sharing of professional expertise and information, special partnerships and access to grants. Only cities and counties with active historic preservation programs, ordinances and boards may apply. One of several goals programmed for 2014-16, certification as a CLG also fulfilled a primary objective of Broward’s new historic preservation program. Following certification, a CLG workshop was conducted in August by Michael Zimny (Florida’s CLG Coordinator) which was attended by the Historic Preservation Board and staff, and members of the public.
