ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT

NATURE OF WORK

This is responsible administrative work assisting in the operational management of the Support Enforcement Division.

Work involves responsibility for supervising and coordinating the activities of professional, supervisory and clerical personnel. This position serves as acting director in the division director's absence. Work is performed with considerable independent judgment within established policies and procedures. Supervision is provided through regular conferences.

ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS

Assists in directing all division activities; assumes responsibility for operations in the absence of division head.

Provides administrative liaison to clients regarding unusual problems.

Administers state grant contract; prepares fiscal reports relating to program funding sources.

Assists director in the preparation of the annual budget.

Prepares necessary reports for reimbursement of salaries.

Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Thorough knowledge of state statutes relating to child support enforcement and alimony and administration of the statutes.

Thorough knowledge of the Florida Court System and the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure.

Thorough knowledge of the basic legal documents used in the domestic relations field.

Knowledge of budget preparation and administration.

Ability to prepare complex fiscal reports.

Ability to assist in the overall administration of the support enforcement program.

Ability to assist in planning, directing and coordinating the work of subordinates.

Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.

Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Broward County's Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability or political affiliation.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in social or political science, public administration, or related field; thorough experience in child support enforcement work, including considerable experience in supervisory aspects of the work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
