NATURE OF WORK
This is work in business development in a County division.
Work involves assisting with the coordination and implementation of special projects and/or special events that contribute to the goal of revenue enhancement. Incumbents may assist with generating ideas, researching and fact finding, coordinating promotional projects and the purchase of products/services. Work includes leading/coordinating committee meetings and preparing reports. Work is performed with relative independence within established guidelines. Work is reviewed through conferences, written reports and observation of results obtained.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Coordinates and implements special projects and/or events.
Assists with generating ideas, researching and fact finding and with developing large event budgets and allocating funds.
Leads, coordinates committee meetings and prepares written reports.
Coordinates private sector marketing plan and assists in the coordination of promotional projects.
Assists with the collection and analysis of data as it relates to revenue enhancement projects.
Researches grant opportunities and prepares grant proposals.
Assigns and reviews the work of personnel assigned to work on special events.
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Knowledge of the principles and practices of special events marketing, communications and public relations.
Knowledge of research techniques used in business development and advertising.
Knowledge of English usage and the requirements of radio and television broadcasters and the press.
Ability to plan, coordinate and implement special projects and/or events.
Ability to express ideas effectively, orally and in writing.
Ability to plan and coordinate the work of personnel assigned to special projects/events.
Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Broward County's Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability, political affiliation or sexual orientation.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in marketing, business administration, public relations or related field; two (2) years experience in marketing, special event coordination and administration; or any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
