ASSISTANT REVENUE COLLECTION
SUPERVISOR
NATURE OF WORK
This is advanced revenue
collection work assisting in the supervision of tax/tag and other personnel in
the Revenue Collection Division who are assigned to different offices that are
engaged in a variety of revenue related tasks (i.e. tax collection, auto tag
and vessel registration, occupational licenses, passport issuance and hunting
and fishing licenses). Duties include
prioritizing and delegating work assignments; staff scheduling to insure
adequate coverage is provided; maintaining accurate attendance records; employee
training; providing information to customers and employees as the first line of
supervision to resolve unusual or difficult revenue problems or situations. Duties also include cash collections,
reconciliations and providing customer service in a professional manner. Work requires exercising tact and
judgment. Work is performed within
clearly defined areas of statutes, ordinances, regulations and procedures. The employee exercises independent judgment
concerning job priorities and requirements.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Assists in supervising the
work of tax/tag employees assigned to area offices and information centers;
assists in resolving unusual or difficult revenue clerical problems; implements
and insures proper procedures are followed for efficiency and compliance.
Assists in completing and
compiling daily, weekly and monthly reports for various departments and/or agencies.
Supervises and participates
in the answering of inquiries from law enforcement, other government agencies
and the public via phone, e-mail or in person.
Assist superiors in planning
and implementing work rules and processes for the work flow.
Performs related work as
required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Considerable knowledge of
general statutes, procedures, regulations and rules governing property tax
collections.
Considerable knowledge of
the laws, rules, regulations, and procedures related to vehicle and vessel registration,
titles, and the collection of sales tax.
Considerable knowledge of statutes, ordinances and divisional procedures
governing the issuance of various licenses, including occupational licenses and
hunting and fishing licenses.
Knowledge of modern business
and office practices, procedures and equipment including various data
processing methods.
Knowledge of established
customer service policies, procedures, and techniques.
Knowledge of basic functions
of accounting and finance.
Ability to deal tactfully
but firmly with delinquent and non-delinquent taxpayers.
Ability to assist in
supervising the work of an assigned group of tax/tag and other personnel in the
Revenue Collection Division.
Ability to express ideas
effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to review and edit
data control reports for accuracy.
Ability to perform tasks
utilizing multiple data processing methods and systems. Ability to operate a variety of standard
office equipment.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from high school
or an equivalent recognized certification; four (4) years experience in revenue
collection work, which must have included one (1) year supervisory or lead
worker experience; or equivalent combination of relevant training and
experience.
