Career Announcement - IT Auditor
Office of the County Auditor, Broward County, Florida
Salary Range - $50,397 - $78,395/yr
(Actual salary will be based on qualification and experience.
This is an at-will, unrepresented position.)
Position Responsibilities: The desired professional will be expected to participate in IT projects which include:
- Evaluations of existing system controls and security.
- Identification of technology risks and development of mitigating security and controls to minimize adverse impact on data and processing integrity.
- Use of data analysis tools to assess the integrity and validity of business transactions.
- Pre-implementation/post-implementation reviews of technology investments.
- Providing technical oversight through review of contracts, statements of work and requirement analyses developed for procurements of technology products and services.
- Assisting other audit professionals in the performance of compliance and performance audit projects.
- Providing technical troubleshooting assistance to other audit professionals.
Knowledge, Abilities & Skills: Qualified candidates should be able to:
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the functions and features of the following:
- General system platforms and operating systems, including client server, mainframe and midrange systems and distributed networks.
- Various database products, including SQL, Oracle, and Informix.
- Industry prevalent security software products, including how information systems are used and secured.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of intuitive desktop applications, such as the Microsoft Office suite of products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Demonstrate advanced written and verbal communication skills.
- Take direction and perform stated audit procedures, which will include interviews with County staff, review and evaluation of systems and business process documentation, and analysis of electronic records.
- Process information in a logical manner as to reach audit conclusions and suggest ideas for improving accountability, effectiveness and efficiency. This will include identification of relevant security and control issues from basic analysis and identification of potential non-compliance with standards.
- Recognize the financial or business implications of audit conclusions and verbalize or document concerns.
- Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for the quality of individual performance and responsiveness to team members in the performance of projects.
- Maintain a working knowledge of current IT environment and industry IT trends relevant to County operations.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds,regardless of race,color, religion, age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, marital status or political affiliation.
- Serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Broward County’s Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.
Certifications: Professional certification is not required but candidates will be encouraged to seek applicable designations during employment with the County.
Education and Experience: Qualified applicants must meet the following minimum education and experience requirements (or equivalent combination of training and experience):
- Completed bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, computer science, information systems or a related degree with at least a minor in computer science.
- Minimum 2 to 4 years of related IT audit experience.
