Q: What agencies are available for Public Service Interns to serve in?
A: Aviation, Water and Wastewater and Risk Management.

Q: How many hours per week will I be required to work?
A: Full-time employment is 40 hours per week.

Q: What is the pay rate?

 The starting salary for a public service intern is $11.07 per hour.

Q: As an intern am I eligible for benefits?
A: 
Benefits become effective the 1st of the month following 60 days of full-time employment.

Q: How long will this program last?
A: Internships last one year, beginning in June following graduation and ending in May the next year.

Q: What is the dress code requirement?
A: Dress codes are set by individual agencies. For example, the Governmental Center agencies may require business wear; on the other hand, Parks and Recreation may require a uniform.

Q: Will I be required to pass any tests before employment?
A: Tests are not required prior to the internship, although to gain permanent employment with the county testing is required. Coaching for testing and employment search will be provided during your internship.

Q: What are the requirements for Public Service Interns?
A: Aside from interest in a career with Broward County, Public Service Interns are expected to have reasonably good grades, a strong attendance record, citizenship excellence, and a desire to serve as a role model in the community. You must also be a senior enrolled in a Broward County public high school.

Q: What will I gain from this program?
A: Public Service Internships were designed to give graduating seniors a career opportunity in the public sector to gain valuable work experience and training.
