After Words...
As our tale comes to an end (for this year, anyway), it is time to reflect upon the significance of the story of Broward County Library.
Started more than three decades ago by a group of like-minded library activists that changed a handful of small, city-run facilities into our current system, Broward County Library has evolved into an informational, educational and cultural powerhouse that brings the gift of hope – literacy and education – to all who want it.
This past fiscal year brought many changes as we struggled, throughout possible budget cuts, to continue to provide what so many depend on a free, open and fair environment for learning, growth and enrichment, as well as a place where young, old, rich or poor can equally access the resources that fuel the mind and feed the soul.
Whether promoting childhood literacy, teaching adults to read, or providing all citizens with the opportunity to read, write, think and dream, Broward County Library is more than buildings with books – it is the story of us, our community, our dreams and our future.
May your hopes live happily ever after…at your library.
