Chapter Two: New Beginnings
To keep a story moving along you need action, energy, a sense of excitement and adventure. In 2006–2007, Broward County Library underwent more growth and expansion celebrating ground breaking and dedication ceremonies. The new South Regional/BCC Library also opened with much acclaim as the first green building in Broward County.

Ground Breaking for the New Miramar Branch Library and Education Center – November 30
The community celebrated the ground breaking for the new Miramar Branch Library and Education Center. The new three-story building will be located next to Miramar’s City Hall.

Pre-Opening Tour of the South Regional/BCC Library – December 14
A special luncheon and educational discussion informed the community about the first green building in Broward County.

South Regional/BCC Library Dedication – February 1
The new South Regional/BCC Library opens
with a record-breaking attendance of more than 400 people.

Riverland Reopens – April 2
After severe damage from Hurricane Wilma, the Riverland Branch reopened to the public.
