combination of techniques and tools. Using an amber light and a red filter I
was able to construct the pop up sections under light safe conditions. I then
projected negatives of figures in space. After subsequent development and
fixing, the pop up sections were reapplied. This technique was meant to reflect
the subject of a distortion of reality as seen from the perspective of wants
and needs. The colored sections were created using a variety of software,
mostly Adobe Photo Shop 5 and Adobe Illustrator 8, and output on an Epson 1520

#16 McMillan, Ellen Finding
Natures Rhythm ... Bonnet House 1999. North Lauderdale; 1999. 1
folded sheet [12] p.; 19.5 x 19.5 x 2 cm. [Henri Matisse begins a
quote by stating, an artist must possess nature... On a recent
visit to the Bonnet House in Ft. Lauderdale, this is what I attempted to do
with my camera. I took many photographs of the beauty of the environment and
wildlife of the Bonnet House, collecting leaves, twigs, and other natural
souvenirs from the ground. I incorporated these things in the
handmade paper used to create the book. I manipulated the photographs by
duplicating them on clear acetate and on translucent vellum which was then hand
colored. I manipulated the photographs to incorporate even more of the
artists touch and to create an interesting, illuminating
effect as light is allowed to pass through the images. Rubbings of more
duplicated images from photographs taken at the Bonnet House adds a flow and
continuity to the frame area of each page of the book. This is
number one of an edition of three. The book is a traditional accordion style
book with an additional first page which holds the quote. The book is meant to
be viewed as a sculptural experience. Note supplied by artist. --
