A Birthday Blast for The Cat in the Hat

   
   
     

On The Cat in the Hat's 50th birthday, on Friday, March 2, Broward County Library held a birthday celebration and invited hundreds of school children to participate. Entertainer Billy Joe Bob sang songs about monkeys jumping on beds, wore his Elvis mask for a rock-and-roll number and sang about the virtues of Green Eggs and Ham. A Youth Services Librarian, Lynlee Lebensart, dressed up as The Cat in the Hat and helped hand out piles and piles of stove-pipe, red-and-white-striped hats to the children in the audience. The event was sponsored by Main Library Youth Services and Florida Center for the Book.
