Chess Club Meets Each Week at Imperial Point Library

Chess PlayersThe Imperial Point Library, at 5985 North Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale, plays host to a free chess club that meets every Saturday from 1 to 2 pm and provides chess matches and free lessons. Chess members range in age from 7 to 70 years of age. New members are always welcome. More than 400 people have participated in this program during 2007.

A special lecture on chess dynamics is held on the second Wednesday of each month, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.


Chess Tournament WinnersCHESS TOURNAMENT

On September 15, 2007, the Library held a Chess Tournament for beginners and intermediate players. Tournament awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place were presented by the Society for Creative Anachronism, which brought Middle Ages’ costumes, culture and a display of weaponry to this chess event.

The next tournament will be held on the 3rd Saturday in March 2008.
