That was a great book!  Many of our readers thought exactly that as they finished an enjoyable or interesting read, and they wanted to share those titles with other readers. Listed below are a few of their recommendations.

SHUTTER ISLAND by Dennis Lehane, which will be out as a movie in Ocober of 2009.  A really good mystery story from 1954.

I am currently reading (almost finished) with 'The Spellman Files' by Lisa Lutz. She is a new author to me and this is the first of at least a 3-book series which I look forward to reading. The book is about a hilariously dysfunctional family in the Private Investigations business. When they are not using their PI talents to make a living, they are using them on each other to settle private differences and exact personal justice. The main character, Isabel who is now in her late 20's, has been "in the business" since she was 6 years old. Her 'perfect-could do no wrong' brother had also been part of the business until he went away to college and law school. His law firm now funnels PI work back to the family while Momma tries to get Isabel hooked up with a lawyer. The characters rounding out the main cast include Izzy's Dad, a former cop injured on the job, her Uncle Ray, also a former cop who gave up the straight life after a brush with cancer, and Rae, Izzy's little sister, 14 years her junior, an "oops" baby with a natural talent for treachery, blackmail and persistence that help her excel at PI work including her own special projects. When Isabel has finally had too much of her family and the family business, she wants to terminate her contract with her parents and the firm. Her parents agree to release her provided she does one last job for them. The job they give her is a very cold case, a 12-year-old missing persons case which appears impossible to solve. I'm looking forward to seeing how this one ends and if Ms. Lutz's other books are as fun to read as this has been.
