Ancestry Library Edition
How can I find out when an immigrant ancestor entered the United States, and if he was a naturalized citizen?
This information is available through the Ancestry Library edition database which can be accessed at the Main and African-American Research Library and Cultural center branches. If your ancestor was counted in the 15th decennial census of 1930, they would have been asked what year they entered the United States and their citizenship status would have been recorded as: (NA= Naturalized, a citizen through Naturalization, FP=first papers which was an application for citizenship, which started the process or AL=Alien, not yet a citizen of the United States).
