As Director of Broward County Library, I would like to welcome you to our award-winning online library, your gateway to a world of information and resources. Each year, our literacy programs teach thousands how to read. Students benefit from free homework help, tutoring, test and college preparation programs, and easy-to-use online databases that bring the world of art, science, news, and history to their fingertips. Parents learn techniques to improve their children's reading skills through story times, seminars, and fun and informative programs. Volunteers find meaningful ways to change their lives while they improve the lives of others. Educators find a wealth of resources that help them enrich the learning experiences of countless students, young and old.

Broward County Library is empowering the future of our community by allowing all citizens of Broward County -- regardless of age, race, or economic status -- access to  sources of knowledge that change lives. Our 37 libraries located throughout Broward County, many open all day, seven days a week, guarantee that everyone in our community is given the advantages that a public library offers. Free computers with Internet access and free wireless service at all libraries make it easy for all to tap into the wealth of online information available. A collection of over three million items -- books, CDs, DVDs, and computer software, among others -- is our legacy to the community we serve.

We also bring the strength of cultural and community unity in the form of programs that allow us to explore a world outside of our own. Meet and talk to a bestselling author, see priceless artistic treasures from around the world, or enjoy a performance of international music, dance, and poetry. Our African-American Research Library and Cultural Center - one of only a handful of its kind in the entire United States - houses unique collections of exclusive artworks, manuscripts, music, and more pertaining to African, African-American, and Caribbean cultures, including the Alex Haley and Esther Rolle Collections. Partnerships with local colleges and universities bring previously unavailable academic resources to all customers who own a Broward County Library card.
