Exterior of Weston BranchThe Weston Branch is located a stone's throw from the Everglades at 4205 Bonaventure Blvd. The branch opened in February 2006, replacing a much smaller facility. Although the library is not on a BCT bus route, it is readily accessible by car from I-595, I-75 and the Sawgrass Expressway. The library occupies the first floor of a two-story building shared with the Broward Community College Weston Center. The college has 10 classrooms, a bookstore and offices on the second floor.

Weston Branch Library has a strong multicultural flavor due to a large Hispanic and Brazilian population. Spanish and Portuguese languages are frequently heard at this library, and many programs are spoken in these languages. The library has a large collection of books for adults and children written in Spanish and Portuguese.  Book discussions for adults are held in both English and Spanish.

Bilingual story times in Spanish/English attract dozens of children in the 4-to-10 age group.   During the story times, families gather in the children's area for a real sense of community. The library also hosts several weekly clubs to help library customers learn how to speak conversational English (the English Café), how to speak Spanish (El Club), and how to speak Portuguese (Pap Afiado).

Weston Branch shelving materialsPrograms for teenagers include workshops on such subjects as henna tattoos, African drumming, drama, "your space" makeovers, and Harry Potter. There are 50 teen volunteers at the library who help with shelving materials, sorting paperbacks, assisting at craft programs, running the chess club, crowd control, set-up and take-down for programs, and watching over younger children during festivities. The teens also help younger children by organizing books for their reading lists. Weston children are big readers and are very thorough in reading suggested books for the Summer Reading Program.

Adult programs include such topics as Florida landscaping, yoga, belly dancing, classic movie presentations and citizenship studies. The Friends of the Library helps raise funding for library programs and improvements, and a number of the Friends at this library are also members of the Weston Historical Society, and they have a display case in the library's lobby.

There are 24 computers in the library for the general public, with an extra six computers for teenagers and another six for children, plus 24 seats in the computer lab where computer literacy courses are taught in English and Spanish. Some business software programs are taught in English only. The whole library is wi-fi compatible for visitors with lap top computers. Children who play educational games on their computers are able to check out earphones to enhance their experience.

Weston Library has a high turnover of books, musical CDs and videos. There are a lot of heavy readers at this branch. Almost as soon as the material is shelved, it is checked out again.

Weston Branch tutor roomThe library has tutor rooms, a quiet room for reading, a study room for groups, a Youth Services room, and a multipurpose room that holds 150 people, and can be rented by the community. The public art in this library consists of a number of lenticular photographs mounted on library columns and walls featuring Broward's water themes. As a person moves past the photo, the image will "flip" to another image on the same surface. The branch also hosts a collection of Hispanic art by local artists.

The Weston Branch interacts with seven public elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools and a couple of private schools. The Library does outreach to the schools, sending staff members to talk to students about how the library works. In turn, the schools send children to the library to attend book club discussions and learn how to use data bases.
