Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System (FDLRS)
The Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System (FDLRS) provides diagnostic and instructional support services to district exceptional student education programs and families of students with exceptionalities statewide. The FDLRS Media Center is a special resource collection for parents, teachers, community agencies, and university students working with exceptional students.
The FDLRS Media Center functions as a reference library with instructional materials available for loan, preview, or research with a Broward County Library card. Materials can be sent to schools or public library branches. The collection emphasizes reading and math instruction, and includes other curriculum materials, as well as resources related to social skills and behavior/classroom management. There is also a special collection of infant and toddler materials specifically for parents or personnel working with young children.
The FDLRS Media Center offers telephone reference and checkout of materials. Materials may be delivered to teachers via the school delivery service or sent to branch libraries for pickup via the county library service. The staff at the Media Center offers referrals to exceptional education resources, parent services, and appropriate agencies. They are also available for reference instruction and research assistance.
Materials at the FDLRS Media Center include books, cassette tapes, games, kits, videos, interactive software, and training modules. A universal access station is available in the Media Center for preview of educational software. Materials may be borrowed for 21 days, with the exception of education videos, which may be borrowed for 14 days.
The FDLRS Media Center is a collaborative partnership between Broward County Library and the School Board of Broward County. A FDLRS staff member is available Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The FDLRS Media Center Collection is available during regular Main Library hours.
