On February 1, 2007, the Broward County's first "green" building was dedicated-the spacious and beautiful South Regional/BCC Library. The new library is located just a few steps from the library that it replaces. The previous South Regional/BCC Library is being "recycled" into classrooms
for BCC.
The new library opened to great fanfare with almost 400 attendees. The ceremony included musical features by the "Steel Away" steel pan players, a group of performing grade-school children and the Jamaica Folk Revue. Pre-school children from a child development center on the BCC campus led the Pledge of Allegiance. Commissioner Sue Gunzburger and some members of the County and the college shared their stories of how the library was envisioned and created.
