Guitar Club
Does this sound like you . . . Have Guitar, Will Strum?

We have a library service just for you: Come strum with some new friends at the monthly meeting of the Main Library Acoustic Guitar Club. Tim Bain of Broward County's Main Library Audio Visual Section leads a free Acoustic Guitar Club on the last Wednesday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. People of all playing levels are welcome to share songs, riffs, and musical resources. The club meets on the eighth floor of the Main Library in downtown Fort Lauderdale at 100 S. Andrews Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.
The group gathers in a meeting room where tables are pushed out of the way and chairs are arranged in a ragged circle. Members pluck their acoustic guitars from their cases, tune up, and strum and sing together from a wide variety of rock, folk and seasonal songs. Copies of the music are passed around the room so everyone is on the same page. Their joy in the music is contagious.
Club members discuss guitar-related issues and events and swap playing techniques and educational resources. Some of the members perform at additional locations including library festivities and local open mic nights.
The Acoustic Guitar Club has been meeting for four years. The club is free and open to teens and adults. Please bring your acoustic guitar to the meeting. For more information, please call 954-357-7453.
